nice answer about them being marxists but the true answer is that they were Terrorists full stop.  

Being a marxist is not the same thing.  Marxists will march and protest, hold rallies, hand out flyers and try to convince people that their cause is just and that they should joint it.  Marxists try to use reason to change your mind.

Terrorists on the other hand blow up things and kill people.  Terrorists put a bullet in your mind, a TOTALLY different thing!!!
