I'm so fascinated with the expression "Bobbejaan trou met jakkalse vrou" Who came up with that I find it very interesting.

For those who dont know what it means, its an expression used when the its raining, but the sun is still shining.

It's Jakkals trou met Wolf se vrou. It's an idiom.

It could be the voortrekkers who came up with that one.

Add: I found this discussion also about the origin and no one can find the origin of this. Also, Jakkals trou and Bobbejaan/Monkey trou are both acceptable. There are other variations too. Almost every country has their own version of the idiom. Read through this link if you like. Maybe there's more info for you in there, but unfortunately no one can give a satisfactory answer on the origin. One person said that it's a phenomenon man couldn't quite get his mind around. In other words, Nature is doing something we don't understand, better leave it alone.

I think Emjay asked a question about this once. Unfortunately I can´t find it, could have been trolled, although I would not know why.  It is apparently an old Zulu saying.

The one my grandma used was '' Jakkals en wolf trou"  but i don't know where it comes from

i tried telling that story to my english friends the other day....they didnt understand. Mainly cause i started it off in afrikaans by mistake lol
