Who discovered lens magnifaction??

The trouble with the question is that lenses for glasses were made for quite awhile before they got used for telescopes and microscopes.  I'm afraid this information is lost.

The oldest lens known is the Nimrod lens, a 3000 year old piece of rock crystal, which was unearthed in Iraq. It was used by Assyrian craftsmen either as magnifying glass, or as a burning-glass to start fires by concentrating sunlight.

But the earliest lenses known where probably... drops of water. Those are les shaped as well. Put a drop of water on a leaf of a plant and you see what I mean.
