  1. It was started with the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) that was primarily created by Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg, although France and Germany helped later on.

  2. Look up the Rome Treaty.

  3. The Treaty of Rome, signed by France, West Germany, Italy and Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg) on March 25, 1957, established the European Economic Community (EEC) and came into force on 1 January 1958.

It traces its origins to the European Economic Community (EEC) formed in 1957 by the Treaty of Rome between six European countries.

  4. Belgium, Luxemburg and the Netherlands

  5. First we had the BENELUX states ...

  6. Actually it was the BeNeLux. I studied this a long time ago, but I think it wasn't with that agreement on coal it was with some form of agreement on borders and the abolition of trade barriers, also they planned on making the 1st common currency (nothing to do with €).
