Is this simple or compound? and why?

It is almost lunchtime; I am really hungry!

  1. I think it's compound because it's two sentences in one.  


  2. A compound sentence would be joined by 'and' or 'but'. This should really be two sentences.

    If you had to pick one, I'd say compound, because the ideas are related and the semi-colon acts as a conjunction.  

  3. Certainly compund. Like someone above me said, the two are closely related and have their own verbs.

    It isn't like you said: It's almost lunchtime; I am five feet tall.

    The above makes no sense.

    Don't worry, my English-teacher mom just said you used the semicollon correctly.

  4. Compound because to seperate sentences/ideas that can stand alone  though related to each other and the semi colon serves as te conjunction.
