You're in a hot air balloon with your support crew on the ground. Attached to the balloon are two tether cords of length 350ft. & 400ft. that your crew attached to the ground. You note that these cords form an angle of 50 degrees where they meet the balloon. Assuming these lines are taut and the ground is level what is the distance between the points on the ground where the two tether cords are attached (rounded to 1 decimal place?)_ A. 531.5ft B. 338.1ft. C. 320.2ft D. 220.1ft

the best way to solve these is to draw the appropriate triangles so you can more easily visualize the problem

Not me.  But I will suggest these:

             a.  too far for me to accurately cast my line.

             b.  not enough to pop my ears.

             c.  adequate for placement of a giant air pillow in case I fall out!

I am assuming that since this is posted under math questions that we are not taking into account the refraction that occurs when the light bends between the air and water surfaces.

So, the answer is 20*tan(25deg) = 20*0.4663 = 9.3 ft

Question 2

0.05 * 4 *5280 = 1056

Question 3

400 * sin(25deg) + 350*sin(25deg) = 400*0.4226 + 350* 0.4226 = 316.95 no answer seems to be correct but is closest to 320.2
