I was just wondering; who employs food critics. How do they make such a profound income? All they do is eat!

  1. you do, by reading their articles.

  2. food critics are usually journalists with some type of food background, I have a friend who went to Johnson and wales and after he got his two year degree in Culinary Arts went back and finished his bachelors in Journalism.  He works for a paper and he doesn't make a lot of money.

So not only do you have to know how to write and do so correctly but you have know about food, which is not as easy as it seems.

  3. Good question, lol. Usually critics are payed by either a magazine or publication service, or a survey group that is hired by corporations to let them know how sellable their products are. Even though most need a college degree in some sort of culinary art, it just seems like a really easy way to make good money.

  4. I think the only ones who make a "profound income" are people like the celebrity ones who judge on shows like iron chef or top chef and they usually publish their own books and have regular writing jobs..
