  1. I have to be biased b/c the Phillies are my favorite team, but I'm not going to let my bias cloud my judgement on this answer.  I have to pick the Phillies.  I used to think the Marlins had a better chance than the Mets to beat the Phils but their lack of playoff race experience is going to be their downfall.  The Phillies have a good starting rotation, just like the Mets.  They both have strong offense, but when the Phils aren't slumping, I think they have the stronger offense.  They'll come out of this slump soon so they'll be right back on track in the NL East.  Not to mention the fact that the Mets bullpen is not reliable, while the Phils bp is.  In close games, you need a strong bullpen and the Mets bp loses games for them.  I go with the Phils.

  2. Yes, the Phillies look like they are in great position to get the spot. I would prefer that the Marlins get the spot, but they are too young, and I believe that the Phillies offense is better than them. But this race will come wire-to-wire because the Marlins have good pitching as the Phillies' pitching isn't that great. But the pressure will get to the Marlins leaving the postseason spot for the Phillies. The Mets won't get the spot any time soon because of their horrid bullpen.

  3. phillies

    im a phillies fan

they need to hit when hamels pitches though

he pitches incredible games and they never hit when hes on the mound

    but how about greg dobbs

im tellin you hes gonna come in real handy in a clutch game

hes made an art out of pinch hitting

    go phils.

  4. mr.baseball0101 - haha, you're kidding me. The mets have big names? The Phils have 2 MVP's and an eventual MVP, and that's just in their infield. They also have Pat Burrell, Brett Myers, Brad Lidge and Cole Hamels. Big names? The Phillies have them too. That's no reason for them to win.

I think it's still a tossup. The Phillies desperately need their offense to pick up, if it doesn't the Mets have a very good chance. If it does, i truly think that the Mets are a lost cause.

The Phillies have decent starting pitching. Lights out - Moyer,  and Hamels. Good - Blanton and Myers (after trip to triple A), and Kendrick is definitely not bad. Shaky, but not bad. So...the Mets have the edge in SP. The Mets do not, however, have anywhere near DECENT relief pitching. Their bullpen have given away 21 games after a lead following the 8th inning. The Phillies have arguably the best bullpen in baseball, 51-0 after an 8th inning lead and less than 10 blown saves on the entire team.

Offense, is a tossup. Both are off and on, but when the Philles' team is hot, it's better. Both are streaky and both have the potential to win it, it all depends on the last 35 ish games. There's a lot of time left, when it comes to these two teams, and a lot can happen. I'm betting on, and rooting for the Phillies to win the division

  5. Phillies. They don't collapse under pressure like the Mets have done.
