are u serious? it was one of the biggest stories of the year! Barbaro had won it by the biggest lead in 60 years. will #8 position out of 20 horses. he then went on to the Preakness where one miss step led him winning for his life in stead of the Triple Crown. he had then been through enough, and on January 29, 2007, the wonderful, beautiful colt had got put to sleep.

PS. the winner of the Derby this year was Street Sense and the Preakness winner was Curlin.

Last year's Kentucky Derby was won by "Barbaro" a horse that went on to capture the imagination of all racing fans by proving what courage and heart he had after he was injured in the Preakness and underwent a gruelling surgery to repair his broken leg which caused complications from "Laminitus".. His determination and courage will go down for all time in racing history and may bring changes in the way horses are treated in the future.. So the 2006 Kentucky Derby winner will long be remembered not so much for winning the derby, but for his fortitude and strength.. similare to "Seabiscuit" back in the 1940"s

Barbaro did. At a time of 2:01, and a lead of 6 1/2 lengths he won. In the Preakness he broke down, and shattered his lower leg.
