I do it too, it is so addicting! When you crack your knuckles, you're actually popping nitrogen bubbles in your joints. It's pretty harmless, but if you do it a lot over a long period of time, your knuckles will get big and your hands might look bony. So don't give yourself a hard time but try to cut down a bit too.

my friend says that they help ur blood flow.. but idk. i crack my all of the bones in my hand that r possible to crack and i crack my toes, my back, and im trying to learn to crack my neck..

Nope not harmful at all. The noise you hear is just trapped  air. So pop away!

Joints are covered by a capsule and within this capsule there is synovial fluid. Gases dissolve in this fluid.  When you crack your knuckles you are essentially stretching the synovial capsule and this creates a vacuum  that is filled by the gas normally dissolved in the synovial fluid. When this gas bubble bursts you hear a popping sound. There is no evidence that you can get arthritis from cracking knuckles. However there is one study that links people who crack their knuckles often for many years with a reduction in grip strength. There is also some evidence (a couple of medical reports) of a connection between knuckle cracking and ligament injury and dislocation of the tendons.
