Why Did It Beep At Me??

I was at this car show today where some dealerships get together in one building and you can check out their cars (not the fancy kinds, just normal ones you would buy at a car dealership). Well there was this one I was going to sit in just to check it out but the door was locked. I was like, ok, the keys are hanging in the lock, so I'll just unlock it. So I unlocked it and it starts beeping at me then starts doing some hardcore honking! LOL I don't know why!? Needless to say, I got out of there pretty fast.

I'm just wondering why this happened when I UNLOCKED the door?

Same thing happened to me at a Mercedes dealership. I was applying for a job there, very embarrasing. They program the alarm system to do that to discourage people from messing with the car.
