Reasons are the same as for Germany in 1930th.

    > The world would be more stable if the US was less dominant.

Was it really more stable back in 1960th - 1970th ?

  3. Most russians are alcoholicus publicus. It's a mean, inferior country that does not produce anything useful to the environment. Any kind of russian products are of inferior quality and should be ignored at all times. Limit your oil/gas intake, don't feed the russian bear, cause it will turn back at you and you will be freezing in winter. Go get solar, wind and hydrogen sources of energy NOW! before it's too late and you find yourselves embraced by Russian Misha (Bear) with no way out.

  4. Russia has been bellicose since the October Revolution in 1917.

Would the world be more stable?  It's hard to tell, but the US is like the necessary evil.  Whenever some country starts a civil war or ethnic cleansing, the US military is usually called in as part of a UN peace keeping agreement.  If it goes well, we get no credit.  If if goes bad, we're tagged as monsters and bullies, trying to push our democracy onto the world.  We're damned if we do and we're damned if we don't.  If we followed a policy of isolationism like we did in our distant past, the world would demand our action and condemn our apathy.

  5. Think from Russia's point of view. It's sacrificed a lot during the 90s to reach where it is now. CNN or some other news station recently did an interview with Putin, and it's clear why Russia is experiencing discomfort. Just look at recent comparisons of Russia / US's behavior.

US: supported Kosovo independence and was backed by 17 EU nations.

Russia: supported South Ossetia / Abkhazia independence and was condemned by US and most EU nations.

US: Invaded Iraq for "defence reasons" and was initially supported by most nations

Russia: Invaded Georgia for "defence reasons" and was condemned by all.

US: Little cooperation with Russia on its foreign issues such as the dispute with Japan over its fishing grounds.

Russia: Cooperated with US on Iran and Iraq and got little credit.

All these things happened in the recent few years (in some cases, few weeks). You can see where Russia feels discomfort and resentment.
