Why all this - Muslims?

why are sunnis trying to get rid of shia?? i mean ive heard sunnis say alot of bad things about shia, i read in the news how sunnis kill and burn down shia mosques, also ive heard several times sunnis say kill 10 shias and go to heaven. ive been studying this whole thing and ive realized shias are doing nothing to upset sunnis. also ive heard alot of rumors about shias that ended up being false, like shias hate sunnis, shia worship imam ali, shia have to lie. ive realized this is all just anti shia bull s--t.

so i just wanted to know by a sunni person why you keep doing this to shiites, and please stop coming up with a bunch of theories and insults.

I think there is sort of miscommunication between Sunnies and Shia. Sunnies and Shia had been living together for over 1400 years with no problems.

In Iraq, for instant, where all the conflicts between Shia & Sunnies today happen, had been living together in peace, with family bondings thru marriage. So, there must be something new happended in the region!

Guess what, I'm sunni and I've heard this too about shia and without even stooping low to verify if this is right or wrong, I know it's wrong and it's all stuff created by those who have personal interests into keeping hatred alive between the two sects. We must be smarter than that... the only interests we should serve is Allah's and Allah wants us to be a strong ummah. I condemn any unjust act done by a sunni against a shia and vice versa. You should also realize that that you play a role in keeping the tension alive when you give into propaganda it's main purpose is to play with your emotions and have you think irrationally.

My advise is don't generalize! There are many sunnis like me, whom never harmed a shia, nor believe the lies spread about them, and only wish you (and all shia) a blessed Ramadan and a place in Jannah, inshallah.

it is an unfortunately situation. there are some serious differences between the two sects. however, during periods of history they have been able to put aside these differences in pursuit of the common goal of submission to god alone.

this situation is no different than, for example, some muslims holding exaggerated false notions about jews. it is hatred fueled by ignorance. but you are really kidding yourself by thinking that only one sect is responsible for spreading the lies. both parties are culprit. it is not my intention to play the blaming game but the evidence is not hard to find.

also, as i am sure you know, that the shia sect has many subdivisions. besides the majority ithna ashari there are the ismailis (nizari, musta'li and druze each with their own sub divisions), zaidi and more. often the belief of one of these minority shia sects are used to stereotype the entire group. of course this is a form of injustice.

if you believe that 'all' sunnis are trying to get rid of the shia then i would say you are no different than the bush administration who seem to believe that all practicing muslims are terrorists. don't feed the ignorance.
