Why are Philippine Churches tax exempted?

Religion is a brisk business in the Philippines. 90 % of the population are church goers. While in first world countries like the UK, all churches pay taxes and virtually almost no one is exempted. What does this mean to you as a Filipino?

  1. That's the reason why there are so many religion/sects sprouting all over there.It has become a good business venture to some and one of the perks is, it is exempted from tax.They're taking advantage on the religiousity of the Filipino people.
