Why are asian drivers so slow?

Sorry, I'm not a racist... but whenever I drive and see a very slow person, I take a look at who's driving and about 90%of the time it is asian... like yesterday, when I was merging to the freeway... u have to try speed up to the flow of the traffic when you enter a freeway... well this asian person was driving 30 mph entering the freeway!!! That is very dangerous and could cause an accident... I don't understand why some asians drive so slow.. and they grip the steering wheel for dear life

I know exactly what you mean.

I don't know from experience, but I think that back in their home country they never drove, or if they did, it wasn't on a freeway. So basically, it scares the **** out of them.

I don't know much about Asian Americans, but if the Asian is born in Asia-Pacific, this will not be the usual character you'll see from them. I've actually driven American expatriates around at my hometown, and the most common sentence that will escape into their speech will be such as, "Whoa, Slow Down... Don't make another 'F&F' [Fast and Furious] scene..."

I am an australian and here the asians drive like crazy people.   Never seen a slow one yet.   I live in a country area and quite often it is asians in hire cars when the emergency services get called out to an accident.   Usually resulting from too much speed on unfamiliar roads.

Because they are a very careful curteous race, they think they are being careful but in fact  a real problem when driving, if you have ever driven in San Fransisco china town area then you rearly know what its like, with the hills and a stick  shift, they are not the only problem.

I don't know, but if they drove in Asia, it's probably well learned.  The way folks drive in Asia is that everybody that can possibly pull out in front of you actually does.  It's quite safe, because you know they will before they do it. They always do.

You don't dare drive over about 30.

One possible answer is the fact that some countries in Asia drives on the left lane.

To them the slow lane is on the left. But that's just one reason, another would jut be ignorance and disregard for other commuters.

Let see, one can also argue that if one were to drive slow, even in the highway, one can minimize the severity of an accident. Which brings us back to ignorance. which is in any case affects all drivers.

We are also conditioned to think that Asian drives bad through the media, with that thought infused in your mind we tend to realize them more than we used to.

Bad driving is a disease of all races and ages......especially with cell phone users and text message-rs........unbelievable

dudee seriously your so right, i live in northern california the bay area, so we got tons of asians here. sometimes they drive so slow im freekin late for work ! man get the fck out of the way sometimesss

well i am an asian and all i can say is that back in my country there is a lot of traffic so no ways anybody can drive fast...so in your country may be the traffic is smooth but as we guys are not used to driving so fast we are scared!!!  may be that is the reason.
