Why are doctors so freaking greedy ?

Sally, do you speak for every doctor there is or just your husband ?? Isn't that exactly what they get to go to school for to learn how to bill everyone for everything ?

And naturally you will support someone's greed especially if you didn't have to work at all. Just stay home and popout babies and driving cars, that is just so real easy to do ??

Doctors are greedy, because they don't seem to ever have enough without sending someone a bill to the cleaners.

I do believe Sally G pretty  much gave you best answer you could get.

Come to think of it, you could drop what you are doing and become a doctor yourself, then charge half of what the "greedy" doctors are charging. Ask your question again when you get that done.

I know for SURE that doctors DO NOT pay their office staff oodles of money, in many cases.  This profession, like LAWYERS, have an overdeveloped sense of ENTITLEMENT and believe because they have sacrificed so much of their lives to education,they deserve MORE of everything. And I think thats c**p because they made the CHOICE to do this to please their parents, or whatever motivation got them into that place.  I have worked with hundreds of doctors in my life and can count on one hand the number who really care about their patients.  These few also care about the people who run their business, make their schedules and do the thousands of other tasks doctors dont learn in medical schools.  

By and large, the rest are "egomaniacs" who are caught up in the insanity of our health care system. Rather than "get off the train" they take their frustrations out on the people they have vowed to "do no harm" upon and those who work with or for them.  And they rationalize by saying.."I've committed so many years of my life preparing for this profession". Yeah, well BIG DEAL!  If someone is NOT happy in their chosen profession, DO SOMETHING ELSE because their emotional state is toxic to people.  This is true for ALL professions.....no matter how much education is required.  

Lets talk about GREEDY LAWYERS and POLITICIANS and CORPORATE leaders while we are on the subject.  Maybe its better I dont go there.

They work hard to become doctors and have to pay alot for malpractice insurance. I don't like paying alot but we need doctors.

because they spent 12 years of their life studing in college, which is not easy.  they didnt just do it because they wanted to cure people for free.

Because they spent 4 years in college, 4 years in medical school, and 3 years doing an internship. They spent about $100,000 getting their degree, thousands of hours studying, hundreds of hours going without sleep during their internship, and worked their butts off getting scholarships and working to help pay for their education.

Now that they have a practice, they have bureacrats at the insurance companies telling THEM how to treat their patients, what drugs they can and can't prescribe, and how long their patients can stay in the hospital. All this is done to reduce the amount of money the insurance company has to pay...but they rake in billions in insurance premiums that the average person pays. They tell the doctor how much he can charge, then tell him they are only paying half of that and he can either collect the rest of it from the patient or write it off.

The doctor pays thousands of dollars a year in malpractice insurance because if someone's treatment doesn't work the way they think it should, they want to sue and get millions in free money.

The doctor pays nurses and secretaries a substantial salary to run the practice for him and take the verbal abuse from disgruntled patients.

The doctor spends 3/4 of his day at the office, then goes to the hospital to see patients...he might see his wife and kids 2-3 hours a day...if he's lucky. He takes calls in the middle of the night from patients asking what time their appointment is the next day.

Why are they greedy???...because they deserve every frigging cent they get!

I don't think they are greedy.  I have no idea what it costs to go to medical school, but I'll bet it's very expensive.  

Usually, they don't do their own billing. When you consider what they do and the kind of responsibility they take on, I don't see them as being greedy at all.  

You might ask why are gas station owners so greedy?  Everytime you drive there to get a little gas, all they do is charge you a bunch of money.  Why don't they give you a free tank of gas at least once in a while?

Why are furniture stores so greedy?  They know you need a bed to sleep in, but they want you to make payments on time every time when you buy something.  

People have a right to make a living.  If the doctor is so expensive, find a different one with better prices.

Because people's insurance will pay the bill. If insurance was against the law, doctors and hospitals would be forced to charge affordable prices.
