Why are my parents like this?

they have too many rules for me and my sister. no boyfriends, no going out of the house without permission, no makeup, no cussing, get good grades blah blah blah. i still cuss without them knowing and i had a boyfriend before! LOL! but why are they so strict? i wish they were cool

Your parents are acting exactly the way they should be...like PARENTS!!!  :)  Sorry, not the answer you're looking for, but trust me, you'll appreciate it when you are older.  (I know, you've probably heard that a million times!)  And what's worse, when you're a parent, you'll probably have much of the same rules!  lol

Give them time.  When your about 25 years old or so they will probably be cool as he11.  It takes forever to break parents in, it's easier to house train a puppy.

Sorry I can't offer a quick fix, I never found it.  (by my parents are cool as he11 now)

dear,actually your parents really care for you.they want you to become a successful woman in this world.to have a boy friend is not so important.in the end they would leave you that's it.how can you say like you can trust this world?just fulfill the wishes of your parents.then the time will come when they will always appreciate you and you will be able to do all the things you want :)

Sounds like a pretty normal upbringing to me.  Good parents are never cool (cool being defined in the American Teenager's Dictionary as: always lets me do what I want, when I want, where I want, and with whoever I want to do it with).  Every teen or tween thinks they know whats best for them and that their parents are oppressive dictators who want to crush the fun out of life.

Imagine this...imagine you're a 13 year old kid with only a 13 year old's education level and a 13 year old's experiences.  Now imagine you're 30 but you level of maturity is still only up to age 13.  Would that be satisfactory?  God, I hope not.  You wouldn't be qualified to do anything more than pop your gum and download mp3s.

They obviously want the best for you. They know that if you have a boyfriend now that it will make you stray away from your studies because your gonna be worried about "why he hasn't called me yet" and stuff like that. And guess what when you worry about c**p like that guess what your not worried about. School work. That is more important than  a boyfriend. Don't worry, I am 15 and my parents are the same but I listen because I know that it will brake their hearts if they see my pregnant at such an early age. Also I know that they love me and want the best for me. As do yours. So don't worry about that. THey want the best for you and right now want you to worry about your school work. Your time will come to have a boyfriend.
