Why has our population increased more so in the last 100 years than the last 10,000? What is that we're doing wrong?

  1. ex feels good!

    Its a geometric expansion.

And then there's the medical angle. Too many people being saved from really stupid acts that should remove them from the pop'n.

  2. ummm.. im not really sure but i do know that my grandmother had 7 kids and they say that that wasn`t uncommon for back then and alot of people now days are have 5 or 6 kids

  3. A vast combination of factors ideally that cause or population to increase at an exponential rate.

Firstly, we live to a far greater age: This means there is more of us around for longer, increasing the population. Furthermore, it means people can have kids at a later age as well. While healthcare continues to increase so will our population.

There is less infant mortallity once more due to healthcare

There are less deaths of mothers and childs at birth

And think of it this way: if a couple were to have 3 children, each of them may have 3 or two and those may have the same amount and it continues down the line, rapidly expanding as you see a family tree - growing in excessive amounts.

The greatest increase is due to the developing countries however, who as well as gradually improving healthcare have large amounts of children as in "insurance policy" if you will, because they don't have pensions and the like.

Even in the very poor countries, there is a large amount of children even just on the basis that some may die so they wish to ensure they'll have children to live on

the only case you'll have a decreasing population is when death rate outweighs birthrate and with our healthcare system as it is, that is very unlikely. The only cases is one or two countries in africa.

So basically, its more what we're doing RIGHT. That is, the vast improvements in our healthcare system ensuring people live for longer.

  4. well, we reproduce at an exapadantial rate.

ie. lets say a couple has two children. i know its weird but hypothetically lets say theses two children have two children. and so on. these two original people have produced many many offspring. this is like a tree. the branches go off in twos, and you can see that there are more at the top. it's just like that.

  5. One word...

    Penicillin.

The global population began to explode after penicillin was discovered in 1945 and became widely used as an anti-biotic.  Mortality rates fell sharply and birth rates increased following the war, which was also a time of economic prosperity for western countries.

  6. Because people instinct is to reproduce even they cannot sustain their living. not minding slums

  7. Actually, i don't think that is correct and i will illustrate why.

etc, etc. It's just that the more people there are on the earth the number of births will increase at a relatively proportional rate. It doesn't really have anything to do with us being less responsible and what not, i mean seriously, you think they even had condoms back when jesus was alive? Medical Advancements also contribute, people are living longer and healthier lives than ever.

  8. People now adays get bored and have s*x. Its becoming more casual and its what is "in" with our teen population. In the older days, Parents made it seem like a un holy thing to do and made their kids afraid to have s*x untill there married. Now things arnt the same as they once were.
