Why are werewolves and vampires enemies?

Seriously, why?

We aren't and never have been. It was something made up to make better movie plots. There isn't any underworld war or anything like that.  Some werewolves may dislike some vampires but that isn't because of what they are but rather their personality.

Well, fiction writers try to make it so: Vampires = half bat/half human. Werewolves = half wolf [belongs to the canine or dog family of animals]/half human. Bats could fly, wolves just run on the ground. They don't bother each other in real life. Writers are just trying to fool with your mind.

If they did exist there's no reason to believe that they'd be enemies.  Maybe not friends but certainly not enemies.  THAT is just modern sci fi writers and Hollywood renditions to create story-lines.

Historically and mythologically they weren't enemies, in fact, some of the myths tend to bleed into each other. (See: Dracula transforming into a wolf, or varied myth about werewolves being a vampires guardian in the daytime.)

Modern real vampires, as in people who feed of human blood and energy, as well as modern werewolves who practise mental or astral shifting, if any, or simply feel as if they are "part" wolf (no, I am not talking about furries), tend to get on very well, in my experience. In fact, I have a friend who is a sanguinarian vampire (blood-drinker) and is married to a were-wolf, has been for six years, and they are very happy.

(Seriously, I have never seen them fight.)

Werewolves and vampires are made out to be the enemy because people don't understand how humans can change from one form into another. They are greatly disliked and seen as the enemy because people don't understand them. If a little research was done people may be more willing to accept the ideas of werewolves and vampires in fictitious places.

its only recently media came up with that, in stories of old vampires and werewolves have nothing to do with each, vampires use wolves as guards during the day, but other than wolves they have nothing

Some are some aren't.  It all depends on what they are like.
