Why can't I upload pics ?!?

Question

My friend gave me her camera so I could upload pics from a wedding. I plugged the USB cord in, but my computer didn't recognize it. It usually shows an icon; which had all the pics on it. I've used her camera before, but I don't know why it's not working.

you're correct that camera should show as new drive icon, if not possibly driver was not loaded at startup, try scanning for camera with folder options side menu or control panels, scanners and cameras wizard, or restart camera power and then try again,

also if you have name of camera you could go online and download driver software for name brand unknown,

maybe you should try changing the USB port you use.. i had same problem and i just tried changing port for the USB connection to the computer.. might also work for you

Does your computer even acknowledge that u have plugged in the camera?  If you're not sure, go to DEVICE MANAGER  (system properties) and see if there are any exclamation marks or problems with your devices.  If there are, unplug the camera, then uninstall the problem device and then click SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES.  It should clear it. Then, plug the camera in again re-scan for hardware changes to see if it detects it.  If it doesn't, maybe the camera's batteries are bad or the USB cord is not seated correctly.  Try restarting your computer.

If it detects the camera when you plug it in, then browse MY COMPUTER, there should be a new drive or device showing up there.  Right mouse click and explore the folder for the device, your pictures should show up there.  If so, SELECT the pictures you want to upload and then click either COPY TO COMPUTER or MOVE TO COMPUTER.  Good Luck!

Try plugging out and plugging in again as this problem happens if it is not properly plugged.
