Question:

Why did my water stop running?

I live in the country and have well water. I was doing some dishes and the water stopped running. I turned it off, then turned it back on. It ran again but quickly trickled to nothing again. I tried that 3 times with the same results. I've now let the faucet off for about 15 minutes and when I turn it on, NO WATER comes out! Could it be my well pump? My husband works at a power plant and I can't get a hold of him! Any help is appreciated!

  1. Is your pump running(you can hear it with your ear on pipe)? Is it a submersible pump(check breaker by turning off then on)?Have you been using more water than usual(well could be dry)?

  2. My has done that if i run the water for too long...shut off the breaker for about 30 mins. Then reset it and see if the pressure comes back up to over 40 psi.

If all else fails become a COLTS fan...just kidding...:)

  3. Chech the filter screen at the end of the faucet. Could be plugged. it comes off real easy with a pliers. I would check this first. Is there water pressure in the bathroom? If so, then it would definitely be the plugged filter.

  4. I would just turn the breakers off for now and not try to fix it and wait for the husband to come home. It is possible sometimes to break more stuff trying to fix something that you know nothing about. I would like my wife to take this approach if this happened at our house. We are on a well also and it is very expensive to allow that pump to keep running if it is dry.
