He was poisoned, but it might have been accidental.

Recent tests have proven he had an overdose of arsenic in his system.  From that, people say that he was poisoned.  It's true, there were prior attempts to kill the horse.  However, other reports say that arsenic was very common back then and that the horse was probably intentionally given arsenic for health reasons.  In that case, the overdose could have been accidental.  Either way, it was an overdose of arsenic.

Phar Lap died of a poison called Arcenic ( I can't spell it ) In my opinion he was given the poison to kill him. He was a good racehorse and someone had tried to kill him before just to get him to stop winning.
