Why do Fireman have such egos?

Every fireman I've ever known (male and female) have been confident, but I don't really recall ever meeting one that was overly cocky or s****..

The selection process that they have to go through and the nature of their training and professionalism contributes to their confidence levels.

maybe its the same reason as police (putting their lives at risk might not be all the time but when they have to run into a burning building to save that baby then i think thats something to be proud of . it takes a special person who is willing to die to save others this is why they have such egos i agree some of them are a little pompous and rude but what can you do

I'm sure if you put on a fire suit and run into a burning building, just to bring them down a notch, it would really put them in their place. Until then, give them their dues, and let them brag about it.
