make topics like passion, love, rape, murder, insanity, hunting, patricide, infanticide, adultery, ambrosia, superpowers, fate, bravery, shame, and punishment so boring?!

  1. It is because those are the themes of most mythology texts:

    from Homer through Jesus Christ to Marlowe, it's all love, rape, murder shame etc Same from ancient Chinese Change to Kalevala to Ozidi saga and Beowulf. From Africa, Asia to Europe to Micronesia, the ancient world is replete with ambrosia, bravery and shame. Yes, it can be a bore. They had no Internet!!


  2. It's because they use archaic language, you can't be too graphic in class you know.

  3. I don't know, my lecturers here have been known to get pretty graphic about it all. But some just have that monotone that sends you straight off. But mythology's such a great topic that the real intrest is in stuff you read outside of class. All the tragedy's, so much human suffering... It's GREAT!
