Why do cockatiels throw up?

my friends cockatiel used to throw up but that was because he kept feeding it his bogeys!  one time he fed him so many that his beak got 'glued' shut!

When they regurgitate it is a sign of love. mates in the wild feed each other. So if your bird is doing this to or for you this is what it means. If your bird is just vomiting in her or his cage and it is stuck in its feathers then it may be sick and need vet care. Sometimes they get upset GI tract if eat something that does not agree with them. Also can be yeast, infection, or disease. Moniter your bird and see what prompt him or her to vomit.. make sure eating and drinking and not losing wt. Good luck

When a cockatiel regurgitates it is giving you the ultimate compliment.  Cockatiels regurgitate as a sign of affection.  Make sure that your cockatiels are regurgitating and not throwing up though.  If it is regurgitating then it shouldnt be a trouble for the bird, the process should be rather smooth (the neck will move but the process shouldnt be violent).  If however it is throwing up yo ucan tell this by if it is swinging its head when it is throwing up.  Most of the time you wont see them throwing up so when you are cleaning its cage make sure that you dont see throw up flung around the cage, as this is a likely sign that your bird is sick and needs to be taken to an avian vet.  Hope this helps.

somtimes pet birds will throw up on thier owners shoulders. no need to worry, to the bird it's a sign of love, when they throw up then they are trying to feed you. if they throw up without any intervention like simply sitting in thier cage then thier might be a problem. but if your playing or cuddling with the bird it's a sign of love
