Why do most teens think that smoking and drinking is cool?

I mean c'mon, they need to get real...

I even find it annoying when adults [21 and older] drink and get drunk. What's the point?

i dont think it is cool but many people see it on tv and in movies so when they see these people do it then friends do it and then it gets to them but people need to realize it is not cool and bad for your health

most teens dont think they are cool they just use them as tools

like alchohal can be used to let go, party more,  or numb your feelings

drugs can also be used to numb feelings, and more often it brings teens together because anyone who can provide the drug for you is your freind

im not saying they are right and i dont do either, but today there is alot of pressure on some kids, its not thats easy for some to resist

I think its just because, you need to be older to do that stuff! Because they're doing those things, it makes them feel powerful and older.. which really they're not.

perhaps smoking is not cool because of the consequences. but they do it for the 'older image' don't they?!

there is nothing wrong with drinking...unless of course it turns into alcoholism. drinking is a good way to have fun though, provided it is controlled. be honest, the funnest nights of your life were when you were drunk, right?! dont lie, you know you loved it too.

For one their friends, parents, other adults, celebrities all do it, so they would like to follow suit.

Their bodies are the only things they own so they want to exercise their control over their lives by chosing what they can and can't do with their bodies.

I agree with you,people have no morals anymore.I have seen the affects of too much alcohol and smoking,it cost my uncle his life at the young age of forty seven.Possibly it's because most kids have never had to suffer the repercussions of anything major.
