Why do people bite there nails?

Seriouslly, why do people bite there nails.

I do sometimes, but i never knew why?

Usually, they are nervous and don't know what to do about their anxiety.  The same reason people smoke.

I don't know why I do it. I've always felt the need to chew on something all the time, it's not just my nails. E.g. I chew on my pencil and pens when I'm writing.

I guess it just relieves boredom and gives you something to do.

It's a nervous habit too, most people do it when they're anxious about something.

It's a nervous habit.  I always bite my nails more when I'm nervous or anxious.  I've been biting my nails for as long as I can remember.
