Why do people disappear?

It's a very open ended question.

People do disappear, why have they for you?

Well my cousin is very antisocial when it comes to my family.  He told me one day I will understand why he's not coming back.  My cousin is a very smart man.  He knows everything about everything if you ask me.  But the family didn't approve that he went to school for art which is his passion instead of becoming a doctor, lawyer or judge.  Well he's not a famous artist and he's been getting I told you so's for over ten years.  So after the hurricane he left and said he will never return.  He came back for my mother's funeral who was his second mother but he didn't come back for his own maternal mother's last June.
