Bugger if I know...I sure root against him when the Sens are playing the Leafs, but would I root for him if here were on the Leafs?  For sure.

He's a good player who's really come into his game over the last few years.

I know a lot of people say that he's always got a smirk on his face...  It doesn't bother me but for some reason other men seem to not like that about him.  I say be yourself which he does and still people don't like him?>

Because of his laid back attitude. If he was more eager...animated, maybe they would think he cares. Right now, his team is going down the tubes and he's like "whatever" (on the outside at least)

First, because I'm a Leafs fan and Spezza is a pain in my ***.

Because they hate the senators. Spezza is on a white whale of a team and every journalist Ahab is spearing them.

The Sens were dominant and all of a sudden turned to boo boo and every Journee list wanted to take harpoon shots at them.

Even as a leafs fan I don't mind Spezza! He's one player I actually like on the Sens! He's a great player with a lot of skill and potential! I'd love to have him on the leafs!

You got me. I would love to have a guy like that on my hockey team. He's a h**l of a hockey player. He led his team in points last year and was second in plus minus. Who wouldn't want a two way player like that?

They hate him because he is a good player that isn't playing for the team those people like. I hate lots of players that I would love if they came to my team and that is just how sports are. People also like a player that is tough and fun to watch, like Ovechkin or Kovalchuk, somebody that can score goals but also throw their weight around.

for the same reason they hate sidney crosby. personal preference. rivalries between teams. ovy fans don't like crosby...crosby fans don't like ovy. for most fans, i don't think its a issue with the player himself...more so the team that he plays for. the senators and maple leafs ARE rivals..have been for a long time. spezza has a good attiutiude..he's a positive person...I have no problem with him as a fan. not to mention, he's one of the best offesnive players in the nhl.

I find most people do not like Spezza becasue he usually trys something that never ends up working a.k.a he turns the puck over a lot.
