Why do some people hate soccer?

When you say "some people" i take it that you mean Americans? Because in most every other country in the world it's the number one sport.

I think that in America, baseball, basketball and American gridiron (football) are so ingrained in their culture. Americans like to see lots of points or goals and really don't understand the finer points of football (soccer). It's a culture clash and i say that because many Americans say that it is boring and g*y and to tell you the truth that's just what i think of American sports.

I wouldn't worry about it, 90% of the world love Football (soccer).

yea i live in america and here the main sports are american football and baseball. everyone at my school thinks that soccer (football) is lame and they don't know why people play it. i think people here dont understand how the game works and just ignore it because they have been watching other sports for many years. but soccer (football) is the best sport and i think people in america should support it like the rest of the world does.

It's not that they hate it. It's because they don't understand

the game. They are used to games where contact and

tackling are concerned. Most of all the spectator sports

are similar to soccer in their positioning. I always used

to kid my friends who played american football that I

could do with my feet what they couldn't do with their hands.

Basically though it's a dislike fueled by ignorance of the

game.
