  1. S**t happens to everyone. it's how you handle it when it comes rolling in that makes the difference.  some people are insulated from it by being rich.  however, emotional S**t can come along anytime to anyone.  you just have to pick yourself up and move forward.

  2. A lot of what individuals go through is perceived as good or bad based on the individuals particular personal philosophy and world-view.

Lets say your parked car is demolished by a run away truck.... one person might be devastated by the loss of a valued possession while another might be thankful for not being in the car at the point of impact.

Good or bad is a matter of perspective.

  3. Some people have more spirit than others and automatically have things go their way. It's like being in the Tao, even though they're probably not Taoist. If you have a good diet and stop eating c**p and keep as healthy as possible, then things start going your way. But as soon as you finish that candy bar....look out.

  4. $#!+ happens to everyone.  It happens to some people more than others.  Also, some people are more disturbed by it than others, and I don't see a direct relationship to how often it happens--that is, I don't think that people with more $#!+ happening are likely to be more disturbed or less disturbed by it than folks who have less of it.  I do think that people who are less accepting of it's presence suffer a lot more over it and will perceive that they suffer from a lot more of it than other people do.

I am learning to embrace the $#!+ that happens in my life--to look at it as opportunities to develop valuable coping skills, to become stronger, more patient, etc etc. etc.  I find that I suffer from it far less if I look for the benefits.  It's like the story of the pessimist and the optimist, thrown in a room full of horse hockey.  The pessimist is miserable, and the optimist has a ball looking for the horse.

  5. You can only change your perceptions , not the world you live in

  6. It seems that some people are destined for disaster no matter what they do. Could be karma or their negative outlook on life. The best solution is to rise above all the garbage by realizing that there are always people in worse situations and with more obstacles in their lives than you, and then to focus on surrounding yourself with positive people who are motivated to succeed. Some times all this "goodness" can actually brush off. :)
