  1. Venus rotates clockwise unlike other planets that rotate counterclockwise. This anomaly is believed to have been caused by an asteroid. In Venus’s distant past it must have been struck by a very large asteroid that was large enough to cause a collision strong enough to reverse the direction of Venus’s rotation. This theory also might be used to explain why Venus rotates much slower than the other planets in the solar system.
