Why does my tv cut out?

I just bought an Insignia from Best Buy a couple weeks ago and it will go black and then come back on. It only does this when the tv is on, not when a dvd is playing. Is it a problem with the tv or the cable?

THIS answer assumes that this is only happening on the digital cable TV channels, and the analog ones are OK.  If this is the case it sounds like low signal level coming into the TV set.  

Make sure all connections are tight, eliminate un-necessary splitters, get a new jumper wire from the wall to the TV.  

If it still happens call the cable system.
