Why does the government keep.....?

Why does the government keep coming out with these silly ideas? I know they are trying (aren`t we all) to find an answer to so many problems in British society today....but...

I am talking about their latest scrapping of the idea of taking knife users into hospital, to view their victims - in the hope their conscience will stop them carrying and using knifes!

Are they naive or what!? I mean, anyone who is going to stick a knife into someone is hardly going to have a conscience watching them suffer (just the opposite I would think).

Many of these bullies whip out their cell-phone cameras to get a pix of their victims writing on the ground in agony - so why the h**l should a hospital visit tickle their consciences?

Jolly good question. B0unting. My thoughts are the same - one would assume in this type of crime that the perpetrator would merely 'gloat' at the victim rather than feel remorseful.

Perhaps a better solution would be a good thrashing or flogging - for them to feel the same pain they inflicted on their victims.

In the lack of any other proposals by the Government then flogging would be a serious option.

....AND before any of you bleat on about 'barbaric' etc - what could be more barbaric than going round sticking knives into people?

Why don't they put their heads together more? I suspect this is mostly coming from Brown himself. If they pooled their resources they may come up with half a brain, lol.

You can see where they're coming from, hoping that if people see what damage they've done and what pain they've caused, it would force them to think again.  Unfortunately this just shows how out of touch they are with reality, because people who commit these crimes for the most part won't care too much about that, otherwise they wouldn't be carrying a knife in the first place.  It's a nonsense idea to try and show the public that it's not just the Conservatives who have ideas on how to tackle the problem, unfortunately for them, the Tories have it right on this occasion...lock em up.

Its easy for the  government to carry out these sorts of things  because they cost  little, where - as  if  the  real problems  (deprivation poor schooling.. poor  parenting and lack of direction) where  to be tackled  then it would   cost billions.. Sometimes  its easy to talk tough and spend  little  simply for the  sound bites  that are  seen in  the  media.

Unfortunately there  isn't an  simple solution, these  type of  crimes are  brought about  by  lack of discipline - stupid  kids  and stupid attitudes. Until   you can instill self discipline  into  every  youngster then  there will always  be those  who  think that carrying a  knife or  gun or other weapon  is  cool.
