Question:

Why doesnt my car start?

my car starts when i boost it and it runs the volt gauge says it charging but when i turn car off it wont start again volt gauge drops.the battery is new do you think it could be bad ground connection on battery? would the volt gauge show its charging if it was.keep in mind i'm looking at the cars volt gauge and not a separate 1

  1. I would start by checking all the battery connections, since the charging system isn't a factor in starting the vehicle - it comes into its own only when the engine is running.  Besides the positive and negative cables, there should also be fusible link wires that are connected straight to the body of the vehicle - a faulty connection there will also cause a no-start condition.


  2. Check your cable to battery connections, make then clean and fresh material on the contact points.  Make sure the battery has a full charge and is the proper size and amp hour for your application.
