Why is Cole living w/Nora?

what is their connection? and what happened to his father,patrick thornhart?

Nora was appointed Guardian to Cole when Marty was presumed dead from the fiery crash in Ireland.

Patrick Thornhart is dead (as dead as they can get in Soaps).

Todd and Marty made semi peace - but just wait until Marty regains her memory and realizes all the lies Todd is telling her and just wait until she find out he's been beating up Cole!

Cole's Dad Patrick had died while his Mom , Marty was still around and he & his Mom were very  close..

When Marty had the accident, and it left Cole an orphan,  Nora gladly took him in with open arms and gave him a home and a family.

Oh, just wait till Marty regains her memory and finds out  Todd is the one who raped her, and kept her from Cole AND  John ,,,,

How Todd thinks he can pull this off is beyond me,,,  but then again he IS delusional !

Nora and Marty became friends after her rape trial in 1993. When she returned to town, they reconnected and considers Nora one of her best friends. She took care of COle when Marty was wrongly accused of murdering Spencer Truman so she had it put in her will that she would be his guardian should something ever happen to her. MArty and Patrick moved to Ireland after they were married and right before they came home to Llanview he was murdered by the IRish mob, the men of 21.

BTW in real life the actress who plays marty is married to the actor who plays Zach on AMC- they have 2 children

Because Marty and Nora got close because of their hated of Todd...so when she went to jail she gave nora guardianship of cole...so when she "died" they figured that's what she would want...plus i think that's was in her will
