  1. Not quite sure what you mean, but the Fraser River itself is entirely in British Columbia, and only a tiny part of its huge flow originates outside the province, in Washington State in the US. It is of great importance mostly in that it is one of the largest rivers to flow into the Pacific unimpeded by dams, and thus it is a major breeding ground for salmon. It is also important to the port of Vancouver with a number of shipping terminals on its lower reaches. The river contributes a sediment load into the Straight of Georgia, and its fresh water makes that area a little less salty than the open ocean. The flow of the river is a function of climate, and global warming will probably lead to a reduction in the flow over time. Warmer weather will mean less runoff and possibly less rain.

Beyond that the river is less globally important than many rivers with smaller flows--the Rhine and Danube or the St. Lawrence as examples because it is entirely within a single province of a single country and thus does not raise issues of international management.
