  1. Because they're so yummy! lol

    i don't know.

    it sucks!

    xx

  2. Next time go to a supermarket like Carrefour, GB, Match etc..

Buy Cote'd'or, Jacques, and all the other brands much cheaper and as good they sell better then the posh Godiva.

I had one time Godiva and really it was the worst chocolate I ever had.

Buy the way the best brand is Callebaut chocolate, the posh shops use their Callebaut Granules.

  3. 16,00 is 16 Euros, it's just the way the Europeans write their numbers.

  4. they would be double that here and they are all hand made depends where you shop?and yes 16 euros is not a lot for quality?did you enjoy them???????

  5. LOL you found Godiva!! Shop on the corner of the Grand Place???

  6. because its yummy :P

  7. Next time, go into a Leonidas shop. Their chocolates are the cheapest.

Why so expensive : Quality, quality, quality! There are also other reasons e.g. :

When the chocolates are made into different special shapes they tend to be more expensive.

Some brands are much more expensive than others.

Brugge is a very touristic destination so it is normal that they hike their prices.

Labour is, in general, expensive in Belgium + nearly all the chocolates are hand-made.

last but not least : Belgians use ONLY the best quality ingredients to make their chocolates. Although they are expensive, Belgians and foreigners alike will buy them. They are really, REALLY Yummi. And that's another problem : You never have enough with eating just one!

One big advantage though : You can buy chocolates by the gram e.g. only 100 grams if you so wish or just 1 praline.

Some prices are given per kilo, some per 100 grams and some per piece. You have to check the prices thoroughly.

It is true that, for students or pensioners, these prices may still be too high.

16 Euros seems to be in the high range of prices e.g. Godiva, Daskalidès, etc....

You'll know for next time and in Belgium, like in all countries, you have to compare prices but i guess you must have been in a hurry.

I hope this didn't spoil your visit.
