Why is hemp illegal?

With all the benefits proven for hemp, (manufacturing,clothing,food, shelter, and medicine why is the government dragging it's feet on the inevitable legalization of ALL hemp?

because they make more money off it being illegal you know they bust all the little guys and let the big dealers go free so they can continue busting the little guys...does this make sense? its my theory.

Because old white people in congress think that you smoke hemp. Retards lead this country. Hemp is illegal and having 20 beers is not. /sigh
