I gained about 90 lbs in the last 7 years. This is mostly due to having two children. After my first (which I gained 68lbs with) I developed severe post partum anxiety which they put me on a medicine that made me gain a ton more of weight. Since March I have finally managed to lose 26lbs just by counting calories, joining the gym........I just don't understand why it has to be so hard. If I having more than 1300 calories a day, I lost NOTHING. Even though I walk 5 miles three times a week, go to the gym for strength training twice a week, and all the extra cardio of being an incredibly involved mom who also takes care of two other small children. Is there something wrong with me?????? I'm just so tired of eating NOTHING that I like and having to kill myself just to lost a pound!

  1. most likely 1,300 calories is too low for your current bodyweight.  the caloric intake should not be less than what is required by the BMR.  the metabolic rate will also slow after extending periods of low calorie eating.  as the caloric intake decreases the higher the quality of the foods there must be in the diet.  there are lots of reason why you aren't losing any more weight.  there is so much more to weight loss than cals in vs. cals out

  2. 26 lbs in that time is a good job.  No, there isnt anything wrong with you.  Losing weight takes time.  The good news is that as you get stronger and in better shape you will burn calories easier.  Your approach is the correct one.

Remember to keep eating protein, especially because you are strength training.  Women have a harder time doing this than men it seems.  Good Luck!

  3. I feel your pain! And it is especially sickening when you see someone really thin who never works out and eats whatever they want when they want, isn't it? I don't know how to help...sorry. :( that's just life I suppose. Perhaps, get a personal trainor or a go see a nutritionist. They should be able to tell you the amount of food and calories to consume a day and still lose weight. OR try that nutrisystem stuff. The commercials looked kinda good, and you can even eat brownies and stuff.

    GOOD LUCK!
