I clicked on a link I shouldn't have and got a rogue program that put up an add that said I had spyware and to buy an xp antivirus software. It whited my background and I got a blue screen. I downloaded malwarebytes and restarted. I updated and scanned the computer with everyting I have. Nothing turned up. Also, my background was blue. Is that what's supposed to happen?

  1. Just go to Start---->programs------>ACCESORIES---->... tools-----> click on system restore.

when it opens click on last week's date and  restore ur computer .

it will go just like it was last week, and u will not loose any files u saved or pictures or stuff like that..

  2. Duh!  Because you ain't selected green?

  3. You too?

I think the program IS a virus

    my desktop is blue too

you'll also notice that when you go to the properties window the desktop and screensaver tabs are gone

that xp antivirus software doesn't exist

probably because xp relies on other anti-virus programs like Norton and AVG

My computer only got fixed because I got it reformatted

It's not expensive, but you'll lose a lot of files

    so better back up

And don't try to tackle it alone

I removed the program on my own once, but the blue background remained

Also, watch out since the darn program also included a screensaver thing

when the screen saver plays, it will be as if the computer restarted on its own

then a blue sceen containing white text appears, saying that you need to delete stuff from and restart your computer

    DO NOT DO IT

    it's a hoax

still can't locate the virus though

    I suggest you get a computer-software-technician's help

he'll probably reformat it, or scan it with the latest in anti-computer-virus technology
