Question:

Why is my fish so shy?

hes a Chinese algae eater

the tank is well planted with lots of hiding places (coconut caves etc)

he spends all day in the coconut cave and only comes out at night for no more than 1 minute at a time

i have had him for a month

also i know they can get aggressive so please dont remind me

  2. They are a nocturnal and very skiddish. If you have him with other fish, beware! As they get olfer they suck the slime coating off of other fish!

  3. He`s probably ashamed that his owner asks to many questions..

  4. Most CAE's are shy nocturnal fish, he seems to be acting normally.  Maybe you could get a companion (although I think your tank could be at danger of being overstocked then you will have a whole new set of problems larger than 1 shy fish).  They may get less shy with age.  

  5. maybe he's scared, or lonely is there any other fish in the tank try buying another one.

  6. same as my bestfriends. Some of them just shy cuz they are born like that. Goldfish are better cuz they like humans...I have 6.

  8. Algae eaters are very shy so I would say that its normal for him to do that.
