Why is my hamster so mean?

he bites at anyone close to the cage, when you put your hands in he jumps up and bites then throws his self back wards

that is similar to what my hamster did when i got it.

but it was worse.

it literally hissed at me like a snake.

it was pretty scary.

i couldnt even touch it without it freaking out.

so, every once in a while when it knows you are there and it is looking at you.

leave a vegetable or small treat near it.

and then itll soon eat it

itll began to trust you.

in about a week just watch it eat the lettuce you gave it and then pluck up the courage and gently pet its back as it eats.

i did that and it was tamed.

i held it and everything.

it lived for 3 years, died of old age.

never bit me once.(:

if you just bought your hamster then it's normal because they barley know you and might feel threaten and if it isn't then he might just be having a few bad days. try waking him up just once and then pick him up hand feed him food pet him speak calmly then he will change his mood, then when you put him back in he will go to sleep comfortable.
