Why is my macbook so hot?

I just picked up my laptop after using it for a few hours to write an essay and the underneath was so hot that I had to put it down straight away. Is that normal, no burning smell just much hotter than it has been before? Is there a recommended time for use, did exceed that?

  1. thats what suck about macbook and most macbook have that problem, because the faster or better graphics it used, the more heats will have, and all heats will likely to clogged into the laptop because it doesnt have big space for air to transfer out..but theres cool pad may help.

  2. That's pretty normal, especially if you were using it on a bed or carpet. If you use it on a desktop, the heat usually flows into the hard surfaces. It's nothing to worry about. You can always download the freeware called smcFancontrol. It tells you the temperature of your MacBook inside and the speed of your fan. It allows you to kick up the fan speed if you get worried.

  3. Yes- but you can buy a cooling pad- they are real cheap some plug into the computer- some just hold the computer off the table and let air get underneath - fans can circulate  the air that way. I use one

  4. they just put a highend processor in it  and not in a good place----macs do run hotter than most l/tops----hint all high end l/tops shoud be used with a coolpad ----remember its a latop not a desktop(u dont have ur tower in ur lap)
