Question:

Why is prostitution illegal?

Why is it illegal to sell something that is free to give away? Doesn't making it illegal create a black market? Shouldn't adults be allowed to make this decision? Isn't pornography the same thing just with a camera? Wouldn't it be better to have red light districts where it can be controlled by the government?

  1. some places prostitution is legal

but why would you want diseases spread around...

then we would have a crisis in america and all the health care companies would make so much money ... we dont want that

    corruption

    diseases

    thats just crazy talk

  2. Our culture originates from the Pilgrims.  The religious right still has a lot to say in our society.  What I don't understand is why they can't live their lives the way they want without everyone else having to think the same way they do!

  3. Prostitution allows corruption and diseases to spread in any society and that guides a country to fall down where it's population (which human resources is the most important resource in any country) be sick and unable to help in pushin their countries ahead

  4. It means nothing that it`s illegal, ppl are doing it anyway. & will continue to do it.

  5. Its not in Nevada.

  6. hey, hey now. Let's not drag my precious p**n into this filthy argument.

  7. i think it should remain illegal.

  8. The debate over victimless crimes rages on between the left and the right. If there were no Christians, Jews or Moslims in America, things like prostitution and drugs would be legal and the black market would have to find something else to sell.

  9. Morality is an ever changing and complex thing to judge.  In the US, prostitution technically is LEGAL, but only in Nevada.  The federal government chooses to allow local governments to decide their own morals and ethics.

And yes making it illegal does create a black market.  But a black market is in some ways more preferable than an open market.  Although the black market exists and causes crime access to it is often troublesome and dangerous.  That is enough to deter most would be consumers from an illegal product.  If you are robbed while soliciting a prostitute it's technically your fault.  NO protections.

And what makes you think s*x is free?  s*x with a girlfriend or boyfriend is totally commoditized.  A girl is told that s*x with her is a valuable commodity and she must reserve it.  The guy understands that to get s*x he must jump through hoops.  Add on top of that the necessity of love and attraction.  So s*x is not free!  Nor is it given freely.  Love is free.  s*x isn't!

I do think it's preferable though.  Having these restrictions induces pressure for the citizens to behave in a certain way.  If you could simply fork over $100 and get satisfied you might not be inclined to improve yourself nor your self-esteem.  Think of the further generations that live in such an environment.  No love, no goals, no aspirations... just consumption.
