Why is skateboarding illegal.?

How in the world is skating illegal? Im a skater my self but i mean im the one that just skates for fun not doing any tricks. but rollerbladers speed down the boardwalk and by cops but they dont do any thing. I would get all the skaters to protest like just skate on the boardwalk and the cops wont do anything.

It is because skateboarders are often portrayed in the media as rebellious, drug using, and "hooligans". If police officers see a bunch of skateboarders skating around, they think trouble. Also, skating rails can damage them and can be considered vandalism.

i was skating dow the street one day with my cousin and the cops pulled us over and he told us to stop skating and then three people on bikes come flying down the street and the cop didnt do anything about it. and they will follow us around sometimes too, in conclusion i think they are just waiting for us to do something illegal but we never do we just go skating and go home

Where is skateboarding illegal by state, county or city statute? If you are referring to ordnances that prohibit skateboarding on some sidewalks then there is good reason for it. Skateboarding can be a hazard for people WALKING on sidewalks.

If you are upset about businesses that do not allow skateboarding on their property (shopping centers, malls, amusement parks, zoos...etc) then guess what? It is their property and they can make any rule they want no matter if you like it or not.
