I have had my period for about 3 years now, and it usually skips around but usually comes every month. But I was supposed to start on the 27th or 28th of this month and it still has not come. Is this normal or not?

  1. Having irregular or missed periods can be caused by a number of things such as significant weight gain or loss (Although low body weight is a common cause of missed or irregular periods, obesity also can cause menstrual problems), over-exercise, poor nutrition (or a diet too high in carbohydrates), smoking, certain medications, caffeine, excessive alcohol use (interfering with how the liver metabolizes estrogen and progesterone), eating disorders, increased stress, PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome or estrogen dominance), uterine abnormalities such as fibroids, ovarian cysts, polyps, endometriosis and hormonal imbalances.

I would recommend you consult with your doctor/gynaecologist for further evaluation to see what they think could be causing this.

    Good luck :)

  2. If you have had any sexual activity since your last period you may want to do a pregnancy test. You may need to wait till you have missed an entire week before testing as you will get better results then.

However if you have not had s*x then it is normal for a girl during her first 2-3 years of menstruating to have an irregular menstrual cycle. Some women have irregular periods for their entire lives. A Teen's body is influenced by it's growth and therefore can start and stop the menstrual cycle when it is growing. Many things influence irregular cycles... medications, significant weight gain or loss, over exercise, poor nutrition, drug use, eating disorders and increased stress. However, if your period is absent for three months or more that is when it is a good idea to see a doctor and rule out certain medical conditions such as PCOS(polycystic ovarian syndrome).

  3. if you're stressed it might not come on time. If your eating schedual's been crazy or you've changed your diet it could be late or early. Give it a few more days and if it still hasn't come, go see a docture :)

  4. yes for the first 5 years or so its different for everyone it scrambles around... dont worry everythings fine unless you had s*x.

  5. If you are not sexually active and don't think you are pregnant, it could be an unexpected change in your life style.  It has only been a couple of days.  Give it time.  If a week goes by, see your doctor.
