I've been on Xanax and Zoloft. Xanax for anxiety and Zoloft for depression. Last month i had the stupid idea of trying to kill myself. I took 20 Ibuprofen 800's. Not only do i feel like a p u s s y deciding to take the easy way out instead of take it like a man my depression hasn't gone a way....im only 15 years old and depression runs in my family. And my great great grandpa successfully killed himself because of his depression....I just wanna know if i can get a stronger medication that will get rid of my depression and if i can what others are there?

  1. Yes there are other medications.  The Zoloft you are taking have less side-effects than the other medications, that's probably why the doctor has given it to you.  The other medications are older meds that were used prior to anti-depressants such as Zoloft were discovered.  Check out this web site, it explains all of the anti-depressents that are out there.  You need to go back to your doctor and tell him what is going on and see what else he can do for you.  If he is unwilling to help, you need another doctor.

  2. try some natural therapies such as acupuncture, reiki, massage and yoga. i understand that these wont cure your problems, but they help to balance your energies which contribute to your mood. they help you feel better about life in general and i really suggest that you try them out.

  3. to kill depression, u forget pills. avoid spicy foods.avoid drinks and smoke. take good rest. take a lot of water. get up early in the morning and have a good walk. do meditation for about 30 minutes a day. thats all. u will become easy and feel like flying. best of luck.

  4. I am sure your parents are aware about your depression, for what i know patients with depression need to be checked constantly and change their dosage cause once your body is used to certain ammounts of Xanax or Zoloft their effect is less and less effective so they need either a stronger dose or a different med. I would recommend you to go to a therapist and talk to him/her about your current situation. Also try to enroll in some kind of extra curricular activity at school like sports or arts just to keep yourself with other ppl and forget about those suicidal thoughts.

  5. It's called natural selection.

If you are going to kill yourself, you take yourself out of the gene pool and prevent future generations from killing themselves.

On the other hand, if you fix the problems, the future generations will be stronger. Good luck.

  6. You need to discuss this with the doctor.  generally they will not switch your meds until you've been on them a couple months with no improvement.  But if so, you need to ask him for a different antidepressant-they are NOT all the same-he may try to tell you they are.  Do some research on your own on the internet so that you can talk to him with some general knowledge of how zoloft works as opposed to, let's say... wellbutrin.  They are in different classes of antidepressants.  By researching things you let him know that you are concerned about getting better.

Also:  Jeyaprakash S above is right:  exercise is very important-get those endorphins going and get out in the sunlight for about 15 minutes.

    Good luck.
