Hey... in my English class we're studying debates. I was placed on the affermative team for the question "Gambling should be banned".

Do any of you guys have any reasons as to why Gambling should be banned, besides the obvious Money loss and family issues?

Thanks in advance.

  1. Gambling is addictive. Besides, you also give the (evil) people who run gambling sights money to survive, when they'd probably be better off dead, anyways.

Gambling gives almost nothing to society. While the other side may argue that it brings entertainment and thrill, the entertainment and thrill are gained at the cost of family time and money loss.

You may start to gamble stuff that shouldn't be gambled, like your kids, your wife, your arm, your leg, stuff like that if you get really addicted.

  2. Gambling should not be outlawed as it is down the individual should they wish to gamble or not.

Remember, America is the land of free speech.  Let the public decide whether they gamble or not and lets not be a nanny state.

  3. well i dont think it should banned but since u need reasons against it i can help a bit since my theology class talked a little bit bout it

it is built on native americans sacred land

increased the number of criminal actions- those occurring in casinos

    then the obvious ones:

people will become to attached and lose all they have and own

  4. No!!!! we should not! if we ban gambling i'll be out of a job!

  5. let's go with an easy response

In my County in Florida - when we approved the lottery

and sales began to win MILLION$ on a one dollar ticket

FOOD STAMPS quadrupled as people ran out of money

    so what did we gain - - - - - not a thing

Gambling is a tool to separate the hard earned money from your wallet to the casino house coffers

we never had a real chance!

  6. For your debating class, you may also want to mention that this disease pushes people to do things that they might not normally do like other addicts. they become liars, cheaters and thieves to support their habits. People have been beaten and robbed. Gamblers have been committed to mental institutions ,lost their minds and committed suicide.
