Why won't my computer hibernate?

Question

Whenever my computer tries to hibernate, I get a message saying...

The device driver for the 'D-Link DFE-530TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter (rev.A)' device is preventing the machine from entering hibernation. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver.

The thing is, I don't use wireless internet. I have DSL. Doesn't Ethernet mean a wireless connection? Also, perhaps coincidentally, this problem started right after I installed the last auto-update from Microsoft(not sure if this helps, but it is the update that installs as the computer is shutting down). Is there any way to delete this update or reinstall it? I rely heavily on the hibernate feature because my computer takes five minutes to start from a cold boot-up (yes, I need a new computer. I know this already).

you need to disable the D=link.  go into your network connections and right click disable.  hope this helps.

Firstly, ethernet is NOT wireless internet. Ethernet is a networking protocol - simply, it is wired LAN and interent.

MS Windows updates can often s***w-up device drivers and settings. In your case it looks like there is some conflict with the D-Link ethernet adapter's driver.

Do this:

1. Right click on "My Computer"

2. Click "Properties"

3. Click on "Hardware" tab

4. Click Device manager

5. Scroll down to "network adapters" and look for "D-Link DFE-530TX PCI " under it.

5. Right click on it and say "Update Driver"

6. Restart your computer.

That should fix your problem!

ummm yeah, Ethernet, doesn't mean Wireless Internet, it is the cord used to connect a modem/router from/to your computer, and if it says to update your driver, just google "Updated D-Link Driver Free Download", scan the download first, and if it is clear, install it, it should fix the problem, and you might also have a program running that instantly takes it out of hibernation mode, because it activates something on your comp.
